Inadequate access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services has serious implications for: health, wealth and dignity.

Yet, access to WASH services is generally inadequate, mostly in developing countries (WHO/UNICEF 2020).

Even where is adequate access to WASH services, several challenges threaten the sustainability of such systems. There are also vast disparities across localities, regions, and socio-economic groups.
